I don't think I've ever before had a review week with all the novels earning four stars out of five.

Internet Awesomeness:

One of my favorite novels of the year, Laini Taylor's Daughter of Smoke and Bone, has been optioned for film by Universal Pictures! (Entertainment Weekly) Read my review of the novel right here. Be sure to read this one before it hits the big screens (in a few years....)

Another novel that I LOVED and want to see onscreen: Robin Wasserman's The Book of Blood and Shadow's first 5 chapters are online! Read it, read it nooow!!

Nine Stubborn Myths That Just Won't Die. (Life Hacker) I admit I was guilty of believing myth #1 but now  know the truth.

I love this! Check out this polite bear waving hello to passersby. (YouTube)

Also among things I love is the HBO's show Game of Thrones. The new teaser trailer for season two was just released and it is called, "The Cold Winds Are Rising." I'm getting pretty stoked for the next season! (TVLine)

Eleven top fashion designers, including Cristian Siriano, The Blonds and Tommy Hilfiger, have each created their own unique version of Hunger Games' Katniss as the Girl on Fire. (Celeb Dirty Laundry) I have to say that the last (Siriano's) is by far my personal favorite.

I had fun with this: can you figure out BookRiot's eight novel pictograms? (BookRiot) I got them all, but took a while with # 2.

This week's TUMBLR OF THE WEEK: Clair Huxtable: Mom Style Icon.

Re: nerds and male privilege. Though the author is male, he straight up gets it. Worth a read, though quite long and detailed.

The L.A. Times is celebrating their 130th year of publication with amazing photos through the decades. (The L.A. Times)

2011's Biggest Movie Controversies (Flavorwire) Ugh, Brett Ratner.

Also from Flavorwire: 15 Gorgeous Book Cover Redesigns

OR: Famous Writers as Handcrafted Dolls. (Flavorwire) Slightly creepy, I admit. Especially the first one...

The anonymous artist of amazing book sculptures has returned - for the last time - to Edinburgh. (NPR)

The internet: something for everyone. Need an idea for that hard-to-shop-for person for Christmas? How about hand-stitched Kanye West tweets? (BoingBoing)

One of my favorite actors from my all-time favorite TV show died this week. Harry Morgan is known best for his role as Colonel Sherman T. Potter from M*A*S*H and he died at age 96 this week. This tribute for his long life and career is both lovely and touching. RIP Colonel Potter. (YouTube)

Daniel Radcliffe is Entertainment Weekly's Entertainer of the Year.

This is supposedly a list of history's hottest women. OF ALL TIME. I have to call this list out - as complete shit - for these reasons:

  • Jen Aniston is not #1
  • Grace Kelly does not belong at #86
  • Elizabeth Taylor does not belong in the 60's - before Alicia Silverstone (?!)
  • Jenna Jameson is higher up than all the above mentioned ladies at #49
  • No Iman/Isabella Rosselini/Gene Tierney
I call shenanigans, Men's Health. Do-over.

And lastly, from Cracked:

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

  1. I LOVE Blogwatch Wed! I flipped through your last one (spent a lot of time watch creepy commercials - I think Heresy was my favorite) before heading to this one. I too would like a Christmas tree made of books. Delicious, yummy books.

  2. Well, thank you. I have a lot of fun searching out amusing things. I want a tree made of books but the roommates and bf have already put the kibosh to that idea.
    There's always next year!
