Planned Reads for October

Wednesday, October 1, 2014
I love autumn. I love the smell, the feel, the weather. It's my second favorie time -- after winter itself.  October is always a fun one because of the weather and Halloween. I don't do much myself but I enjoy seeing every else's costumes -- especially when they go for the nerdy or YA side of the costume spectrum.

I have some truly awesome books coming up as we get closer and closer to the end of the year. For historical fiction fans... pay close attention to...

Pompeii was a lively resort flourishing in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius at the height of the Roman Empire. When Vesuvius erupted in an explosion of flame and ash, the entire town would be destroyed. Some of its citizens died in the chaos, some escaped the mountain's wrath . . . and these are their stories:

A boy loses his innocence in Pompeii's flourishing streets.
An heiress dreads her wedding day, not knowing it will be swallowed by fire.
An ex-legionary stakes his entire future on a gladiator bout destined never to be finished.
A crippled senator welcomes death, until a tomboy on horseback comes to his rescue.
A young mother faces an impossible choice for her unborn child as the ash falls.
A priestess and a whore seek redemption and resurrection as the town is buried.

Six authors bring to life overlapping stories of patricians and slaves, warriors and politicians, villains and heroes who cross each others' path during Pompeii's fiery end. But who will escape, and who will be buried for eternity?

A Day of Fire by various authors
This anthology boasts some of my favorite authors all working together to tell the story of Pompeii the day Vesuvius erupted. What about that does not sound awesome? When you add in Sophie Perinot and Kate Quinn and Stephanie Dray and others? It's an instant buy. Luciky for me, I was asked to be apart of the tour and plan to dive in as soon as this post is done being written.

We also have Great Imaginations Blogger Trick or Treat stopping by later in this month. There's a fun giveaway connected with so be sure not to miss that!
