Bookish Arrivals!

Thursday, April 3, 2014
I had a lot of fun books -- one anticipated for years! -- come in, so this was a fun few weeks checking the mail.

I pre-ordered this a year ago, and it was finally published. There's nothing like a new Sanderson epic fantasy and Words of Radiance is just as good as Way of Kings was four years ago.

From TLC Book Tours for Review:

The Collector of Dying Breaths by M.J. Rose - Reincarnationist #6

The  most recent effort in Rose's story about reincarnation and perfume continues with a new murder and mystery. All in a day's work for Jac L'Etoile.

From Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tours:

The Queen's Exiles by Barbara Kyle - Thornleigh #6

This is the latest in Kyle's long-running Thornleigh series. I have yet to read this one, but I liked the one before it.

From the wonderful people at Macmillan:

One Man Guy by Michael Barakiva -- looks beyond adorable, right?
On The Road to Find Out by Rachel Toor -- sounds like a good coming-of-age story.

And then there was this box of wonderful from Henry Holt/Macmillan:

and insiiiiiiide.....

That's a Ruin and Rising sampler and three Shadow and Bone-scented candles. It's lovely and pretty and smells wonderful.

And some books I was sent/bought when out in Phoenix:

Gifted:
An Abundance of Katherines by John Green -- given by a friend when she realized I had never read it. My record with him is spotty (one four star, two three stars, one two star) so who knows how I will like this.

Bought:
India Black and the Gentleman Thief by Carol K. Carr (India Black #4) --- the latest in one of my very favorite series, so I had to rush out and buy it. It's my next me-read and I am beyond keen to get to it.
Honor's Knight by Rachel Bach (Paradox #2) -- I had just read/reviewed and loved this, so owning my own physical copy was a must.

Sent:
Night in Shanghai by Nicole Mones -- this is for another HFVBT tour and the cover for it is just lovely. I have this up soon, so expect a review in the next few days.

Bought:

Malice by John Gwynne (The Faithful and the Fallen #1) -- rec'd to me by an in-store employee when he caught me eyeing.... (and then buying)....

The Emperor's Blades by Brian Staveley (Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne #1). Danielle read this and her review convinced me I needed to try it.

Lionheart by Sharon Kay Penman (Plantagenets #4) -- an absolute impulse buy because I found it for $5 and have heard great things about her historical fiction.

I have to admit the Grisha box is possbily the coolest bookish thing I have received -- even beating out The Winner's Curse and its awesome packaging. Both of which were from Macmillan, who is OBVIOUSLY killing it with the publicity.

What are your new books? Anything fun? Anyone else finished with Words of Radiance so I can discuss and obsess with them over it?!

  2. Oh my gosh, Macmillan is destroying! That box! *drool*

I scooped up Hung Up last weekend for a fluffy me-read and my copy of Bitter Greens came in from TBD! I like the newly debuted US cover, but I'm glad I got the gorgeous original.
