May TBR Planning

Five months in and this is part of the planned TBR for me:

Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley

Years ago, Rachel had a crush on Henry Jones. The day before she moved away, she tucked a love letter into his favorite book in his family’s bookshop. She waited. But Henry never came.

Now Rachel has returned to the city—and to the bookshop—to work alongside the boy she’d rather not see, if at all possible, for the rest of her life. But Rachel needs the distraction. Her brother drowned months ago, and she can’t feel anything anymore.

As Henry and Rachel work side by side—surrounded by books, watching love stories unfold, exchanging letters between the pages—they find hope in each other. Because life may be uncontrollable, even unbearable sometimes. But it’s possible that words, and love, and second chances are enough.

I am a big fan of this author... and this cover.

More of Me by Kathryn Evans - "Due to a genetic abnormality, Teva unwillingly clones herself every year" -- and Teva is fed up with the clones stealing her life. So she must fight... herself? It sounds weird and interesting and totally new to me.

Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios - I have loved both of Demetrios' prior YA contemporary and am glad she's back to the genre after her fantasy series. This newest one sounds as intense and emotional as could be hoped. Her books and characters have a way of getting under your skin.

The Prey of Gods by Nicky Drayden - science fiction centered on South Africa with AI uprisings and ancient demigoddesses running around causing all kinds of mayhem... and awesomeness.

The Fallen Kingdom by Elizabeth May (The Falconer #3) - The third and final in one of my favorite series. I am scared and excited and sad and terrified and KIAAARAAAN.

Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser (Song of the Current #1)

Caroline Oresteia is destined for the river. For generations, her family has been called by the river god, who has guided their wherries on countless voyages throughout the Riverlands. At seventeen, Caro has spent years listening to the water, ready to meet her fate. But the river god hasn’t spoken her name yet—and if he hasn’t by now, there’s a chance he never will.

Caro decides to take her future into her own hands when her father is arrested for refusing to transport a mysterious crate. By agreeing to deliver it in exchange for his release, Caro finds herself caught in a web of politics and lies, with dangerous pirates after the cargo—an arrogant courier with a secret—and without the river god to help her. With so much at stake, Caro must choose between the life she always wanted and the one she never could have imagined for herself.

From debut author Sarah Tolcser comes an immersive and romantic fantasy set along the waterways of a magical world with a headstrong heroine determined to make her mark.

This one has already been making waves (heh) among my friends. It's looking good so I am tentatively hopeful that it will be a good romantic fantasy.

Any of these on your TBR?

    1. BONNIE YES. DO IT.

I mean, yes, sure, if you enjoy Buffy-type heroines who are flawed messes but also kick some serious ass. Plus honey-drunk fae. And KIARAN.
